18 Months!

Emily turned 18 months on Tuesday! I can't believe she is so big! Well, maybe not "big." Her well checkup was today, and she only weighs 22lbs 12oz and is only 30 inches long! She is in the 25th percentile for weight and 10th percentile for height! I can't believe she is such a little munchkin! But she is big in a lot of other ways. She says a lot of words (even if some are made up). She says something new everyday! If we go "where's your/mommy/daddy's nose?" she point to the right nose! We are working on eyes now. And she loves to flip! I'm not kidding. We'll be sitting on the couch and she will climb into our laps, take our hands, and flip off backwards. It is her favorite thing to do. She is a little dare devil, and I'm putting her in gymnastics as soon as possible! She learned how to climb on to the sofa, which would be fine, but she runs back and fourth on it. So we always have to remind her to sit on her butt! Here are some pictures of her when she sits nice on her butt with the dog.

Deep in thought, or just annoyed mommy is bothering her with pictures.
This is how snack time goes everyday. Emily eats a few Teddy Grahams, and she feeds Amy the rest. Trust me, Amy does not mind. Daddy's never too happy about it though.
"Mmmmmmmm"

Homeowners!

Sorry for the lack of posts. We Avilas have been very busy. With just about 2 weeks left in the Marine Corps (15 days actually, but whose counting?) we've been busy packing and getting ready to leave North Carolina. In fact, we've already had a pre inspection on our house. So all that we have left to do is pack up the rest of the house, load it in the truck, clean, have the final inspection............. Ok so there still is a bunch to do. You might be wondering, "If you're all packed up, where exactly are you going?" Well as of last Monday, we closed on our house! Yes, we're officially homeowners. I think it will hit us once we are back in New Jersey and settled in. For now we're still in the bubble that is the Marine Corps (did I mention for only 15 more days?).
Here it is! Its not the original one we were buying, but to make a very long story short, this is our new home and we love it!!! And I can't thank my dad enough, he's really helped a ton during the whole process. It was almost like it wasn't even going on, he really took care of everything. Thanks Dad!

The Park

Yesterday, we went to the park with a whole bunch of people. I thought Emily would have a great time, because her favorite thing to do is run away from me and because there were going to be other kids there, but not so much. She was just generally pissed off at life and nothing was going to make it right. It could be because her nap was too short, or because it was over 90 degrees outside, or just because my daughter is a diva. Who knows, really. But my friend Ashley managed to get some decent pictures of Emily before all holy hell broke loose.

Yay!!!!

Emily is doing this new thing, where every time she does something she stops, looks at us, and starts clapping her hands together and yelling "Yay"!!! It doesn't matter what she is doing, stacking block, throwing a ball, you name it, she looks at us for applause! And if we don't clap our hands and say "Yay!" too, she gets really annoyed.

Big girl chair

We moved Emily from her high chair to a booster seat at the table a few days ago. She does so much better! She doesn't make as much of a mess (but still a mess) at dinner, and she is even using her spoon! Well for the most part anyways. The whole "scooping" idea it a bit beyond her, but she knows to put the spoon in her food then into her mouth. We help her with actually getting the food onto the spoon.
She's "so big"!!!

Play day!

Today it was a play day for the kiddos, but a work day for us! We had a whole bunch of stuff left over in the garage from our garage sale, and we really needed to get it organized so we can start packing! Mandi came over to help, and since the kids can't be trusted on their own, we stuck them in the pack'n'play. It was...interesting. Poor Maya wanted Emily's sippy, bad, and a battle ensued.

Emily was not all too thrilled and I think a little pissed that none of us were stepping in to help. We were too busy laughing.
Emily and Maya (of course Emily's finger is in her mouth). Emily and I are really going to miss the Haney girls, bad!

Lynnwood Park Zoo

We took Emily to the Lynnwood Park Zoo this morning.

That was her face when she saw the miniature pony. She fell in love with it and was so excited about it!
The object of Emily's affection, the mini pony!
OK, you can't tell from this picture, but Emily was actually CHASING after the goat. It was scared to death of her and kept running away, and Emily kept right on chasing after it.
Poor little goats.
Its blurry because of course she was running to quickly for me to take a really good shot. You can sort of see her new hair cut, cute little bangs! We decided to get her bangs cut because her hair is always in her face. We got it done this morning. She sat on Antonio's lap and I had to help hold her still, so there are no pictures from that experience. She flipped out a little at first, but once the first snip was over she was fine!

Running away, its what she does best.

Eventually, Antonio had to put her on his shoulders so she would stop running! Here they are looking at the monkey!

Happy 4th of July

Yestery day we had a BBQ for the 4th and then went to the fireworks show on base. The BBQ was great, a bunch of the "board girls came" and we got to hang out. Its hard to believe we'll be leaving here in about a month, and we won't get to hang out.
Antonio and I before the BBQ.
The board girls, Elizabeth, Rae, Jen, Me, Mandi and Christy!
I managed to snap this while she was RUNNING everywhere. Once she is free from her stroller, she takes off as fast as she can!
(Blaahhhh I hate how I look here, I definitly ate too much potato salad and it shows). Otherwise, a cute, and rare, Mommy and baby picture.

It was a long wait until the fireworks started, we had to get there pretty early to get a spot. The melt down was inevitable. This picture sums up perfectly the difference in moods. My child, the brat, and Mandi's kiddo, the happiest baby in the world.
A nice family picture. You think she is smiling but in real life she was whining.
Finally the fireworks started. It was a GREAT show, but long. I really had an awesome time.
He really sat there and said "ohhh pretty" for everyone!
She absolutely LOVED the fireworks! She wasn't even scared at the booms! She just sat in Antonio's lap with this look of wonder on her face! It was great! I can't wait for next year! Hope you all had a great 4th!
